Me in Five Years has Something to Say

December 21 – Future Self.

Imagine yourself five years from now. What advice would you give your current self for the year ahead? (Bonus: Write a note to yourself 10 years ago. What would you tell your younger self?)

(Author: Jenny Blake)

Dear Brian,

A little haiku for you:

Live in the moment
It will end so very soon
Que Sera Sera!

Honestly, there isn’t much that I need to tell you that you don’t already know.  My biggest advice would be to just do whatever it is you want to do (I’m not giving any hints as to where you’re life is headed!), but do it with passion.  For the majority of your life leading up to the point where you are now (on the cusp of your 30th birthday), you’ve skated by on your brains.  You do not realize how much more you could be doing!

Also, keep working out like you are.  I’m not giving anything away, but you won’t regret it!

So let’s talk about your career.  I realize you are kind of in a funky place right now in your life in this department.  All I can tell you is to a) keep working hard and b) keep your eyes and ears open.

Experience life!  You are not tied down to anything right now.  Imagine yourself just five years ago!  Yes, you were enjoying your time in Seattle, but you hadn’t quite made the group of friends who you are very close to now.  So much has happened since then.  Just imagine what can happen in 5 years, if you make it happen.

It’s a lot like the song “Seasons of Love”.  Just imagine, you have 525, 600 minutes until next year at this time.  Multiply that by 5 and that’s when I’m writing this letter.  Take advantage of all of those minutes!

Much Love,
Brian in 5 Years
